The Indian Electricity Rules of 1956 are framed in Section 37 of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910 to regulate the supply, transmission, generation and use of electricity. These are mainly the necessary measures to be taken in the construction, installation and maintenance of the transmission, distribution, generation and use of electricity and the precautions that must be observed in the performance of any work related to such facilities to avoid any type of accident electric.
Under the provisions of Rules 5, 46, 47A and 63 of Indian ElectricityRules, 1956, the Inspector of Electrical Inspection conducts the electrical installation inspections of industrial units / plants of high voltage / extra-high voltage installations of consumers and suppliers (Transco, Genco, NDPL, BSESRPL and BSES YPL, NDMC, PWD, Delhi Jal Board and DDA, etc.). In accordance with the provisions of Rule 45, the conditions were framed for the issuance of licenses to Electrical Contractors and Certificate of Competition Class I / Class II to electricians. Under the provisions of rule 63 of said Rules, the inspection of the high voltage / extra voltage electrical installation is carried out, the installation of the consumer / supplier and the necessary approval is issued from this office after determining the relevant provisions of said Rules are being complied with by the owner / occupant of said installation. The Electrical Inspectorate also conducts research on electricity in Indian Electricity Act, 1910, and Indian Electricity Rules, sub-section 33 of Indian Electricity Rules, 1956. By virtue of section 26 of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910, Electrical Inspector also deals with cases of dispute concerning the correction of the energy meter between consumer and supplier at the request of either party.
