i want the problems of rain technology
Rainfinity technology originated from a research project at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in collaboration with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Advanced Defense Research Project Agency (DARPA). The name of the original research project was RAIN, which stands for Reliable Matrix of Independent Nodes. The goal of the RAIN project was to identify key software building blocks to create reliable distributed applications using available hardware.

The goal of the research was high-performance, fault-tolerant clustering and portable computing for space-based computing. Two important assumptions were made, and these two assumptions reflect the differences between RAIN and a number of existing solutions in both industry and academia:

1. The most general shared model is assumed. There is no shared storage accessible from all computing nodes. The only way for computing nodes to share state is to communicate over a network. This differentiates RAIN technology from existing cluster back-end server solutions such as SUNcluster, HP MC Serviceguard, or Microsoft Cluster Server.

2. Distributed application is not an isolated system. Distributed protocols interact closely with existing network protocols so that a RAIN cluster can interact with the environment. Specifically, technology modules were created to handle large-volume, network-based transactions. This differentiates it from traditional distributed computing projects such as Beowulf.

In summary, the RAIN project intended to marry distributed computing with network protocols. It became clear that RAIN technology was very suitable for Internet applications. During the RAIN project, key components were built to meet this vision. He presented himself and granted a patent for RAIN technology. Rainfinity was separated from Caltech in 1998, and the company has exclusive intellectual property rights over RAIN technology. After the formation of the company, RAIN technology has been further increased and additional patents have been submitted.
